Canon Powershot S50 Digital Camera

Canon Powershot S50 Overview
Canon Powershot S50 is virtually identical to the four megapixel S45. Indeed other than the five megapixel sensor, case cover, silk screen labels and embossed chrome '5.0 mega pixels' strap eyelet it really is the same camera. Thanks to Sony's 1/1.8" five megapixel CCD sensor the S50 becomes 'yet another' digital camera originally designed for the 1/1.8" four megapixel sensor and quickly upgraded to continue to compete in the (ever more ridiculous) megapixel race.

Canon Powershot S50 Feature
5.0-megapixel CCD delivering up to 2,592 x 1,944-pixel resolution images.
1.8-inch, color LCD monitor.

Slimline Style
With its graceful lines and all-metal exterior, the super slim Digital IXUS i7 zoom looks good at any party. Choose from 4 enticing colours* to suit your own individual style.

7.1 Megapixels
A 7.1 Megapixel CCD sensor captures every scene with enough fine detail for large photo quality prints.

2.4x Optical Zoom
An ultra-compact 2.4x optical zoom gives you framing flexibility without sacrificing image quality.

DIGIC III
Canon's DIGIC III processor provides lightning quick responses, superb image quality and advanced noise reduction. iSAPS technology analyses each scene to optimise key camera settings before a shot is taken.

Face Detection AF/AE
Face Detection AF/AE ensures superb people shots by automatically detecting the subjects in the frame and setting the optimum focus and exposure. My Category tags each image based on face detection and shooting mode for easy image navigation, printing, deleting and much more.

Shooting modes and My Colors
Choose from 17 shooting modes including Special Scene modes to help with tricky lighting conditions. Shoot smooth VGA (30fps) and QVGA (60fps) video with Movie mode. My Colors allows special colour effects to be applied both during and after shooting.

Flash-free low light shooting
Low-noise ISO 1600 enables flash-free shooting indoors and at night. High ISO Auto mode automatically sets an optimal high ISO setting to allow for faster shutter speeds, reducing the effects of camera shake.

Camera Station
The convenient Camera Station dock is the base for quick and easy direct printing, PC uploads and battery charging. Use the Wireless Controller to play slideshows and movies straight from the camera to your TV.

Safety Zoom
Safety Zoom takes advantage of the camera's large resolution to offer extra zoom magnification without affecting image quality. Capture images at up to 4.6x zoom with enough resolution for lab-quality postcard (10 x 15cm) prints. Shoot VGA quality stills for TV playback at 10x zoom.

Vertical shutter
The Intelligent Orientation Sensor automatically rotates vertical images and movies before playback. It also converts the Print/Share button into a shutter release when the camera is held vertically.

Direct Printing
Connect to any PictBridge compatible photo printer and push the Print/Share button for instant photolab quality prints.*Some colours may not be available in all regions.

Canon IXUS i7 zoom Digital Camera

Canon IXUS i7 zoom Digital Camera

The Canon IXUS i7 zoom is a seven megapixel digital camera with a 2.4x optical zoom lens. In this case that basic description only tells a small amount of the story. The IXUS i7 zoom looks completely different to any other digital camera I can think of. Available in four colours (Steel Grey, Denim Blue, Sepia and Sizzling Pink) it has a striking design that really does make it stand out from the rest. It is also small enough to slip into a pocket.

Canon IXUS V Digital Camera

Canon IXUS V Digital Camera
Canon have taken the popular Digital IXUS and added a "v" for video. The Digital IXUS v (known as the S110 Digital Elph in the US and IXY Digital 200 in Japan) builds on the original Digital IXUS platform by firsty adding the ability to take short movie clips of either 160 x 120, 320 x 240 or 640 x 480 resolution. And secondly support for direct printing (to Canon compatible printers). The only visual difference between last years Digital IXUS and the Digital IXUS v is the small gold coloured microphone on the front case.

NIKON D90 DSLR

With a 12.3-megapixel sensor, the Nikon D90 rises to the resolution of the more professional D300. It also shares the same sensitivity as the D300, ranging from ISO 200 to 3,200, plus L1 (100) and H1 (6,400).

It's not just the high end models that have lent features and technology to the D90; the user interface has been given the same user-friendly treatment as the D60, as have the retouching options. As it was explained to us the D90 is intended to appeal to the broadest audience of any Nikon SLR, from first-time 'step up' customers moving from a compact to serious amateurs wanting comprehensive photographic control without the cost and weight of a D300. Whether the D90 is as capable as its feature set suggests, we'll see as the review unfolds.
