Samuel Morse

Samuel Morse went to Yale University to study electricity. After he graduated he went to an art school. Art was Samuel's true passion. While Morse was at art school he won a gold medal for his one and only sculpture. Samuel Morse accomplished many things during his career as an artist. He painted poets, presidents and even Marquis de Lafayette. Samuel also founded the National Academy of Design in 1826. He was the first president of this academy.

Samuel continued to study art and in 1832 he became a professor at New York University. He became a successful painter. Morse hoped to paint historical murals in the Capitol building in Washington D.C. but, he was not allowed to paint the murals. Samuel became extremely frustrated. After 1837 Samuel Morse did not paint again.

Morse was in great need of money so he turned to inventing. Some of Samuel's first inventions were fire engine pumps, marble cutting machines, and his most famous the telegraph used with Morse code.

Samuel had been interested in electricity and he was talking over his idea of the telegraph with some people and they thought it was a good idea. Unfortunately, Samuel didn't have enough money to build his telegraph he also didn't have the knowledge needed to complete the telegraph. A friend of Samuel's, Leonard Gale, offered to help him. Samuel still needed money. Between 1840-1842 he was given a patent and $30,000 by Congress to build a test line between Baltimore and Washington D.C.. The first message on his telegraph was made on May 24, 1844. It said, "What hath God wrought!" which means, look at what God has done.

Later in his life, Samuel went into politics. He was the Vice President of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Samuel Morse finally became a wealthy man. The telegraph honored him with a statue in Central Park in New York City in 1871. Samuel Morse died a year later.

Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T50

Sony's Cyber-shot DSC-T50 is an update to the existing DSC-T30 model. Both cameras include the same image-stabilized 3x optical zoom lens, branded with the famous Carl Zeiss name and coupled with a 7.2 effective megapixel CCD imager. The most significant difference between the existing camera and the Sony T50 is the addition of touch-screen capability to the large 3.0" LCD display. (We're currently awaiting clarification as to whether this has changed the camera's overall weight, and if so by how much). Noise reduction in the Sony DSC-T50 has also been adjusted, and now operates at exposures 1/6th of a second or longer (formerly this was 1/25th of a second or longer). The Cyber-shot T50's built-in flash memory capacity falls by two megabytes to 56MB, the "Candle" scene mode swapped for a "High Sensitivity" mode, and a new "Normal" slideshow mode has been added. Finally, the Sony DSC-T50's bundled software has been changed to Picture Motion Browser v1.1.

Power is supplied to the camera by a Sony T50 Lithium battery (NP-FR1). Sony estimates that you should be able to take around 400 shots before the battery needs to recharged.

A generous 56mb of storage is built into the camera. I was able to take a respectable 20 shots before the memory became full. This is enough to test the DSC T50 out, but before you do any serious picture taking you will need a larger memory card. The camera is compatible with Memory Stick Duo and Memory Stick Duo Pro cards.

Canon EOS 40D DSLR
August 2007 Canon announced’s EOS 40D,it is the company’s latest DSLR designed for enthusiasts and semi-pros. it’s the successor to the EOS 30D, and continues Canon’s 18 month cycle for this product line. While the EOS 30D represented a minor upgrade over its predecessor though, the new 40D features significant improvements – and not a moment too soon considering arch rival Nikon’s leadership in mid-range DSLRs over the past two years.

Canon’s bumped the resolution from 8 to 10.1 Megapixels, added anti-dust features, increased continuous shooting to 6.5fps, and improved the viewfinder, AF system and weatherproofing. The A-D conversion and RAW files now work in 14-bits, the colour monitor is bigger at 3in, and perhaps most notably of all, the EOS 40D now features Live View facilities. Finally, the EOS 40D supports interchangeable focusing screens, an optional wireless transmitter and even shows the ISO in the viewfinder by popular demand.

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC N2 was announced in September 2006 as the successor to the DSC-N1.
Like many new compacts this year, the main differences are higher resolution and sensitivity,
although by inheriting the N1’s screen and control system, the new N2 remains one of the most

Boasting 10.1 Megapixels, the Sony N2 becomes the highest resolution Cyber-shot compact camera

The Digital IXUS v (known as the S110 Digital Elph in the US and IXY Digital 200 in Japan) builds on the original Digital IXUS platform by firsty adding the ability to take short movie clips of either 160 x 120, 320 x 240 or 640 x 480 resolution. It's not just the high end models that have lent features and technology to the D90; the user interface has been given the same user-friendly treatment as the D60, as have the retouching options. As it was explained to us the D90 is intended to appeal to the broadest audience of any Nikon SLR, from first-time 'step up' customers moving from a compact to serious amateurs wanting comprehensive photographic control without the cost and weight of a D300. On January 26th 2006 over a year since the introduction of the E-300 Olympus revealed the 7.5 million pixel 'live view' successor, the E-330. The E-330's biggest differentiator to any other digital SLR is its capability to deliver a live view on the LCD monitor (in the same manner as a prosumer / consumer all-in-one digital camera). For those new to digital SLR's this is difficult to achieve because of the mirror / shutter mechanism, the mirror is in the light path in view mode to provide an image to the viewfinder, this means that no image can be projected onto the main sensor. Additionally most large D-SLR sensor don't have video out capability. Other changes over the E-300 include a flip-out LCD screen and a range of feature improvements inherited from the E-500.

The Fujifilm FinePix S100FS is based around a 2/3-inch Super CCD HR VIII image sensor with an 11.1 effective megapixel resolution and Fuji's RP Processor III. The sensor is coupled to a Fujinon-branded f/2.8 to f/5.3, 14.3x optical zoom lens that offers a 35mm-equivalent focal range from 28 to 400mm, and includes both optical image stabilization and a true manual zoom ring (rather than the "fly-by-wire" zooms found on most such digital cameras).

Storage and Battery. The 1,150 mAh lithium-ion battery fujifilm np-140 is a bit larger than the small lithium-ions in most digicams but there's plenty of room for it in the sizeable grip. A large yellow battery release makes it easy to pop the Fujifilm S100FS's battery np-140 in and out of the socket, too; quite a relief from the tiny releases in ultracompacts. An AC adapter is also available.

The advantage of the InfoLithium battery is the fact that every minute this precise information about the remaining energy of the battery. This is graphically displayed on the monitor what ultimate very user friendly. An additional advantage is that the InfoLithium battery has been the characteristic energy to maintain long, so virtually no discharges. Power

The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-V3 is powered by an NP-FR1 InfoLITHIUM battery pack (3.6 volts, 4.4 watt-hours) and comes with an AC adapter which doubles as an in-camera battery charger. InfoLITHIUM battery packs contain a chip that exchanges information with the camera, allowing the camera to report approximately how many minutes of battery life are left at the current drain level. This information is displayed on the LCD monitor and the electronic viewfinder with a small battery graphic. The AC adapter plugs into a small socket on the camera's back panel. It can run the camera without a battery inserted, or charge the battery when the camera isn't in use.

The Li-Ion battery packs used in Sony cameras prevent me from making my usual direct power measurements, but the good news is that the InfoLITHIUM system reports projected camera runtime while the battery is being used in the camera. Despite the excellent feedback provided by the InfoLITHIUM system, I still recommend you purchase and pack along a second battery, though. (Another advantage of the Li-Ion technology used in the InfoLITHIUM batteries is that they don't "self-discharge" like conventional NiMH rechargeable cells do, and so can hold their charge for months on the shelf or in your camera bag.)

The Casio Exilim Pro EX-P700 is a 7.2 megapixel compact digital camera with a fast 4x optical zoom lens made by Canon that offers a focal length of 33-132mm. The EX-P700 offers an extended battery life of around 260 shots and has a full range of manual and automatic shooting modes, including no less than 27 different Scene modes to help you achieve the correct exposure. On the rear of the camera is a 2-inch LCD screen, and inside is technology that ensures quick operation in terms of shutter lag, startup time, focusing and continuous shooting.
